Who we are

Bar Wand is a macOS application developed and operated by LEGROS ENTERPRISE LTD PTY (Australia) trading as Swiftful Dynamics. Bar Wand turns prompts into hotkeyed shortcuts you can run in any text field on macOS.

Scope

This policy covers the Bar Wand macOS application. Our marketing website (hosted on Vercel) is separate and is covered below under “Website”.

Summary

• We do not run backend servers that store your app data.
• Shortcuts and settings are stored locally on your device.
• API keys are stored securely in your macOS Keychain.
• Text you choose to process is sent only to the AI provider you select, under that provider’s terms.

Information we process in the app

Local data on your device

• Shortcut definitions (names, prompts, hotkeys, input method), provider choices, and appearance settings are stored locally using system storage.
• API keys you enter are stored in your macOS Keychain. They are not written to UserDefaults and are not transmitted to us.
• Bar Wand does not create user accounts and does not collect personal identifiers.

When you run a shortcut

When you trigger a shortcut, Bar Wand sends only the minimum necessary data to your chosen provider:

• Your input text: either your current selection or dictated text.
• The shortcut’s prompt/system message and selected model name.
• Your provider credentials (API key) are transmitted only to that provider over TLS.

Processing then occurs either on‑device (Apple Intelligence where available) or by the third‑party provider’s API. Bar Wand does not proxy or retain this content.

Supported providers include Apple Intelligence (on‑device where available), OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, Perplexity, xAI Grok, and local Llama via Ollama. Each provider’s privacy policy governs how they handle your data.

Diagnostics, analytics, and ads

• App: Bar Wand does not include third‑party analytics, telemetry, or advertising. No crash or usage analytics are collected by the app.
• Website: The marketing site is hosted on Vercel, which may log standard request metadata (e.g., IP address, user agent, timestamp) for operational purposes. If you submit a feature or bug request through forms on the site, the information you provide is used to respond to your request.

macOS permissions we request and why

• Accessibility: Required to read and replace selected text and to automate keystrokes when you trigger a shortcut. You can revoke this in System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Accessibility.
• Microphone: Used only when you explicitly start a dictation shortcut.
• Speech Recognition: Used only to convert dictation audio to text. No background listening.

Legal bases (where applicable)

Where laws like the GDPR apply, processing is based on: (i) performance of a contract (providing the app features you request) and (ii) your consent when you connect third‑party providers or start dictation.

Data sharing

We share data only with the AI provider you explicitly select for a given shortcut, to the extent necessary to obtain results. We do not share data with advertisers.

Security

• API keys are stored in Keychain and transmitted only to your selected provider over TLS.
• We follow platform best practices for local storage and permissions. No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure.

Data retention and deletion

• Local data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app.
• You can remove API keys at any time (delete providers in‑app or remove entries via Keychain Access).
• Content sent to third‑party providers is subject to their retention policies. Contact the provider to exercise deletion requests related to their systems.

Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g., GDPR/UK GDPR/CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal data. Because Bar Wand does not operate user accounts or its own content servers, most rights requests relate to:

• Data stored on your device (which you control), and
• Data held by your chosen provider (submit requests to that provider). Contact us if you need assistance.

International transfers

If you use an online provider, your inputs may be processed in the regions where that provider operates. Refer to the provider’s documentation and privacy policy for details.

Children’s privacy

Bar Wand is intended for individuals aged 16 and over. If you are under 16, you may use the app only with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian where permitted by law.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect product or legal changes. We will update the “Effective date” above and publish the latest version on our website.

How to remove your data (quick steps)

1. In Bar Wand, remove configured providers and shortcuts.
2. Open Keychain Access and delete any Bar Wand API keys.
3. Uninstall the app. For data sent to third‑party providers, contact the provider to request deletion.
